Maharashtra Government clamps down on single use plastic
The Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) issued a statement banning the use of single-use plastic in Mumbai. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and Mumbai Police will collaborate to enforce the use of single-use plastic across the city. Producers, stockists, suppliers, and sellers will be levied fines ranging from Rs 5,000 for first-time offenders to Rs 10,000 for second-time offenders and Rs 25,000 and/or imprisonment for three months for repeat offenders.
