ProductWatch: Packone’s DAC Crossover 100% Inspection System

Launched in the Indian market in 2020, the DAC Crossover system is engineered to detect 100% of defects in printing and coating applications before the material proceeds to downstream processing.

The system is optimised for gravure, flexo, and CI flexo processes, catering to pharmaceutical packaging and security printing segments. The system features controller-less architecture, which simplifies the hardware footprint while delivering the fastest response times currently available. This design allows for a compact installation that integrates into existing production lines without extensive structural modifications.

At the core of its detection capability are twin CMOS 4K full-colour digital sensors, providing a high-resolution inspection window of up to 1300-mm. The system is capable of filing up to 130 defect images per second, displayed in order of size to allow operators to make immediate quality assessments. 

Furthermore, the technology provides superior image quality with accurate Delta E and LAP values, ensuring that colour consistency meets the demands of brand owners.

The system features a three-touch operation and requires no manual data feeding, lowering the learning curve for shop-floor operators. This plug-and-play approach is supported by a newly developed special detection circuit and an image stabiliser, ensuring a steady, high-resolution feed even when the assembly line is running at its maximum speed of 1000-meters per minute.

By identifying defects at the earliest possible stage, the DAC Crossover prevents resource waste associated with processing and shipping defective batches. This efficiency is paired with a trouble-free maintenance profile; as a one-time installation system, it requires no regular manual upkeep and is supported by online troubleshooting and locally trained engineers.
