ACG Inspection, a leader in pharmaceutical inspection and traceability solutions for over 12 years, is now expanding its expertise to the non-pharmaceutical sector. The move marks a strategic shift for the company, which has built a strong reputation in highly regulated pharma markets.
The company recently unveiled its latest innovations at Anuga FoodTec, signalling its ambition to bring advanced inspection and traceability capabilities to new industries. The showcase highlights ACG Inspection’s drive to apply its proven technologies to new product categories, including food and beverage and consumer goods.
“We are testing the waters in this new market,” said Dipanjan Paul, marketing head at ACG Inspection. “Our goal is to help non-pharma brands ensure product quality, safeguard their reputation, and engage end consumers, leveraging the same trusted solutions that have supported the pharma industry for years.”
Key features: Inspection and consumer engagement
ACG Inspection’s systems leverage camera-based technology that “delivers precision far beyond the human eye,” says Dipanjan Paul. It inspects critical packaging and labelling elements like barcodes, QR codes, batch numbers, manufacturing dates, and expiry dates, ensuring flawless printing, reducing recalls, and protecting brand reputation.
A standout feature is consumer engagement. By printing a QR code on packaging, brands let customers instantly access rich content on their smartphones, such as product integrity, detailed information, ingredients, or recipes. At the same time, the system serves as a complete traceability solution. Each scan provides manufacturers with real-time insights into product movement, enabling them to quickly detect and address supply chain issues such as diversion to unauthorised channels.
Navigating a non-regulated market
Shifting from the tightly regulated pharmaceutical industry to the non-pharma sector brings both opportunities and challenges. In pharma, traceability is a mandate; in non-pharma, its adoption rests entirely with the brand owner.
ACG Inspection views this not as a barrier but as a chance to add greater value. Rather than being limited to compliance, its solutions are designed to help brands protect integrity, enhance reputation, and earn lasting consumer trust.
“Traceability is not just about regulation, it’s about protecting and enhancing brand value by ensuring customer trust,” says Paul. To reinforce this belief, the company has already conducted several proof-of-concept (POC) projects to demonstrate the relevance of its technologies in non-pharmaceutical markets.
While details of these case studies remain under wraps, the company points to its legacy of over 60 years as part of the ACG Group, committed to making it better.
