Bambrew, a Bengaluru-based company specialising in sustainable packaging solutions, has secured INR 90-crore (approximately USD 10.3-million) in a funding round. This round was led by Ashok Goel, the former managing director of Essel Propack, and included participation from the Japanese venture capital firm Enrission India Capital.

As per a statement issued by Bambrew, the investment will be deployed to fuel R&D, expand manufacturing capabilities, and increase Bambrew's presence in international markets, specifically West Asia and North America.

Founded in 2019 by Vaibhav Anant, founder and CEO, Bambrew focuses on creating eco-friendly, high-performance substitutes for single-use plastics. Their products are made from materials like bamboo fiber, agro-waste, seaweed, and recycled paper. Bambrew serves a diverse customer base across various sectors, including FMCG, e-commerce, personal care, and food and beverages.

The company aims to reach a revenue of INR 120-crore and achieve profitability within the next year. Bambrew plans to broaden its product range to cater to fast-growing sectors like quick commerce and personal care, with a focus on performance-grade packaging materials that are both compostable and recyclable.

Readers of WhatPackaging? magazine will recall that in March 2024, Bambrew raised INR 60-crore in a Series A funding round, which was a combination of equity and debt. This round was led by Blume Ventures, with other investors including Blue Ashva Capital, Mumbai Angels, and Indus Capital. At that time, Anant stated that the investment is crucial for addressing the urgent need for sustainable solutions in the packaging industry that go beyond superficial sustainability.
