BCML’s Balrampur Bioyug to spotlight scalable PLA-bioplastics at Plastindia
Balrampur Chini Mills (BCML) is set to participate in Plastindia 2026, which will be held from 5 to 10 February, at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. It will present Balrampur Bioyug, highlighting a transition from bioplastic concepts to "market-ready" execution.

At the exhibition, the company will demonstrate how its upcoming polylactic acid (PLA) manufacturing ecosystem is designed to bring bioplastics into scalable use across packaging and related sectors. The showcase will focus on the "Bioyug" brand’s ability to offer viable, compliant alternatives to fossil-based plastics.
Balrampur Bioyug comprises a portfolio of eight PLA grades designed to cover 90% of common market applications. Derived entirely from sugarcane, the material is certified industrially compostable and offers 68% lower greenhouse gas emissions than fossil-based alternatives. The specific grades feature tunable melting points, crystallisation speeds, and melt-flow indices, with certain variants capable of withstanding temperatures over 100°C for heat-resistant moulded articles.
The exhibit will also underscore the technological robustness of Bioyug’s portfolio, which utilises process technologies from global partners like Sulzer, Alpine Engineering, and Jacobs Solutions. By displaying these capabilities at Plastindia, BCML aims to engage with converters and brand owners on application-specific opportunities in flexible packaging, consumer goods, and industrial use cases.
According to the company, its entire business development and leadership teams will be present at the show to discuss collaborations and pilots, emphasising a "farm-to-bioplastic" model that ensures both sustainability and industrial reliability.
