Cosmo Films has expanded its flexible packaging portfolio with a new range of BOPP, CPP and BOPET-based films engineered specifically for pet food packaging. The launch includes a high heat-resistant TR-BOPP film alongside advanced barrier and lidding films, reinforcing the company’s focus on food-safe, high-performance packaging solutions.

Cosmo Films aims to address India’s rapidly expanding pet food market, fuelled by higher pet adoption and premiumisation. Its enhanced specialty film offering will meet the demand for reliable and food-safe packaging solutions.

The new portfolio includes TR-BOPP, a heat-resistant transparent film capable of withstanding temperatures up to 185°C with uniform linear tear. Designed as an alternative to conventional PET print layers in pet food packaging, it offers improved performance during high-temperature processing.

Also included are anti-fog transparent BOPET lidding films, COPET-coated BOPET films for enhanced adhesion and machinability, and coated metallised BOPET films that deliver strong oxygen and moisture barrier properties for sensitive dry and wet pet food applications.

For dry pet food, treats and functional nutrition, Cosmo Films has introduced ultra-high barrier (UHB) grade metallised BOPP films. These are positioned as a more sustainable alternative to aluminium foil, reducing material complexity while maintaining robust barrier performance. The portfolio also addresses ready-to-eat pet food through retort-grade CPP films designed to withstand high-temperature processing while ensuring food safety and shelf-life integrity.

Commenting on the expansion, Pankaj Poddar, group chief executive officer of Cosmo First, said, “The pet food category is evolving rapidly, and packaging must evolve with it. With this expansion, we are leveraging our deep specialty films expertise and applying insights gained from building Zigly, our fast-growing pet care business. Our direct understanding of pet parent behaviour and product requirements enables us to engineer packaging films that deliver superior safety, barrier performance, convenience and brand differentiation.”

The expanded range is designed to meet growing demand for packaging solutions that offer product protection, safety, extended shelf life and visual appeal. The films are manufactured in line with globally recognised food safety standards, including FSSC 22000 certification and FDA-compliant structures, making them suitable for both dry and wet pet food applications.
