Canon

Canon is eyeing "mainstream packaging" at Drupa. Its exhibit in Hall 8a will include a concept digital sheetfed corrugated press.

This will be a single-pass inkjet architecture printing at 8,000sqm/hour and 1.7m-wide. Specification includes four to seven colours, and water-based inks.

Meanwhile in the labels space Canon will showcase the new LabelStream LS2000, with food safety compliant inks. The press is 340mm wide, and prints in CMYK plus white, at up to 40m/min.

Fujfilm

Meanwhile Fujifilm will focus on the Jet Press FP790 flexible packaging inkjet press.

readers of WhatPackaging? will be keen to learn that Fujifilm has five orders in hand for its Jet Press FP790 flexible packaging inkjet press, including a second press for Eco Flexibles in Northampton, which recently installed the first FP790 outside of Japan.

HP

HP said that, at Drupa, Indian visitors will be able to see eight automated production lines equipped with the latest innovation across HP Industrial, involving over 25 partner companies.

At the show, the company is showcasing the Indigo 35K HD Digital Press, the second generation press dedicated to folding cartons. With its new HD writing head and higher LPI screens, HP said it produces smoother tints, detailed small images, and micro text. This, it added, would be especially beneficial for finer graphics and images, particularly suitable for cosmetics packaging and security features required in pharma applications.

Landa

Landa Digital Printing plans to reap the benefits of the USD 1bn investment that has brought the business to this point – it has unveiled new higher-speed versions of its B1 sheetfed inkjet presses and looks likely to go big on testimonials from happy customers at Drupa.

At the week’s pre-Drupa media conference (attended by PrintWeek's Noel D'cunha) the company announced the new S11 and S11P (perfecting) B1 sheetfed models.

At the last Drupa in 2016 Landa showed the S10 running at 13,000sph, which had been the high-speed goal from the outset of the project back at Drupa 2012.

Kodak

For Kodak, new at Drupa will be wide-width Kodak Prosper imprinting systems targeted at hybrid packaging and commercial printing.

“This inkjet innovation can be integrated into offset, flexo and gravure presses as well as postpress and converting systems for highly flexible, high-quality digital imprinting of custom packaging, security, and commercial print applications,” Kodak stated.

The existing Prosper Plus and S-series imprinting heads are 105mm wide but can be combined to create wider widths.
