Factory spotlight on Kamakshi Suedpack

German-based film packaging specialist Suedpack and Ahmedabad-based producer of printed flexible packaging materials Kamakshi Flexiprints entered into a JV in 2020: Kamakshi Suedpack. The Kamakshi Suedpack production plant near Ahmedabad was inaugurated on 14 October 2022.

The Kamakshi Sudpack complies with the IGBC standards for green building

Kamakshi Suedpack boasts of a flexible packaging manufacturing plant at Bavla near Ahmedabad. The plant has been set up with an investment of Rs 200 crore.

The plant covers an area of around 2.25 lakh square feet and has an installed capacity of 24,000 tonnes per annum (TPA). It is equipped with modern extrusion, printing, coating, and laminating machines to produce and finish high-performance films for the food and non-food industries. The plant complies with the IGBC Standards for a green building.

The site complies with international regulations and standards, such as Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), BRC, FSMS ISO 22001, QMS ISO 9001 and SMS-ISO 45001.

The Kamakshi Suedpack factory focuses on sustainability by meeting the growing demand for sustainable packaging solutions consistently. Therefore, the factory focuses on multilayer films that are both innovative and sustainable as well as on thinner films and on films made of recyclable mono materials like PP and PE.

Kamakshi Suedpack factory is looking at the gradual phasing-out of multilayer laminates that are not recyclable and therefore, predominantly undergo thermal recycling. “With our broad portfolio in the area of recyclable and particularly material-efficient high-performance films and packaging concepts, we are in an excellent position – and can therefore, optimally support our Indian customers in meeting statutory requirements in terms of sustainability,” Carolin Grimbacher, managing partner, Suedpack told the WhatPackaging? team in 2022. whose position also includes overseeing the R&D department at Suedpack.
