Guala Closures used its presence at PackMach Asia Expo and drinktec India to highlight the breadth of its global and Indian operations, combining technology-led closures with a portfolio that spans liquor, beverages, water, olive oil and other food categories. The company, which operates across 37 countries with a significant installed base in India, supplies aluminium, plastic and premium closures, including high-end formats and custom developments for brand owners. Guala has also developed variants of tamper-proof packaging for the liquor industry, which is rife with counterfeit goods. The company has created distinctive mechanisms to indicate whether a product has been opened. Ashfaq Gauri, business development manager at Guala Closures India, explained how the bottle clearly shows signs of tampering, adding that such innovations are difficult to replicate or counterfeit.

On the technology front, Guala highlighted its anti-counterfeit and smart-closure solutions, including NFC-enabled caps that allow brand authentication, traceability and enhanced consumer engagement. These developments are gaining traction among customers seeking stronger brand protection and digital capabilities integrated into packaging.

A key talking point at the stand was the rise of premium closures, particularly in categories such as whisky, vodka, gin and craft spirits, where brands are moving beyond basic aluminium caps towards sophisticated designs that enhance shelf impact and reinforce brand identity. The team noted that India’s alcoholic beverages sector, where the company holds a dominant leadership position, continues to shift towards premium SKUs, driving corresponding upgrades in closure design and functionality.

Across the show floor, visitors engaged with the company’s product range for both mass-market and premium segments, with interest from beverage manufacturers, bottlers and brand owners evaluating upgrades to closure security, aesthetics and sustainability. Guala’s booth reinforced its positioning as a long-term partner with deep technical expertise, supported by a robust manufacturing footprint in India and a global supply network.
