Hugo Beck will use Interpack 2026 to launch a new sleeve wrapping machine designed for paper-based transport packaging, as converters and brand owners look to reduce plastic usage and optimise material consumption.
The machine, branded paper S, has been developed for secondary and transport packaging across sectors such as FMCG and retail-ready applications. It wraps products in kraft paper, with or without trays, using overlap and hot-melt gluing to create stable bundles suited for handling and distribution.
The system is positioned as an alternative to shrink film and corrugated packaging, two formats increasingly under scrutiny as sustainability targets tighten and material costs remain volatile.
Jonas Beck, managing director at Hugo Beck, said, “This introduction of the paper S in close collaboration with Mondi as a holistic solution represents a logical next step in our sustainable packaging strategy.”
He explained that the development builds on the company’s earlier work in paper-based packaging technologies and reflects a broader shift in customer demand towards recyclable and resource-efficient formats.
The machine has been designed as a compact system that can be integrated into existing production lines or operated as a standalone unit, making it suitable for facilities with limited floor space. In addition to reducing material usage, the paper-based process also lowers energy consumption compared with heat-based shrink wrapping.
The solution has been developed in partnership with Mondi, with the system running on Mondi’s Ad/Vantage StretchWrap paper. The 70 gsm kraft paper combines low weight with strength and stretch characteristics, enabling secure packaging while remaining recyclable in standard paper streams.
Beck said the aim is to offer a practical route for manufacturers to transition away from plastic while maintaining performance. He said, “With the paper S sleeve wrapper we are offering a practical solution for reducing plastic usage and minimising cardboard consumption in transport packaging while maintaining the reliability and performance our clients expect from our technology.”
Optional add-ons, including digital printing and labelling systems, allow the machine to be configured for different production requirements, while maintaining flexibility across applications.
The launch comes as transport packaging gains attention as a key area for material reduction. While much of the industry focus has been on primary packaging, secondary formats are increasingly being redesigned to meet sustainability goals without compromising logistics efficiency.
Hugo Beck will demonstrate the system live at its stand in Hall 11, positioning the machine within its broader portfolio of film and paper-based packaging technologies.
