Huhtamaki India, a subsidiary of Finnish packaging giant Huhtamaki Group, is actively pursuing expansion in the Indian market. As per media reports, this is backed by "a significant investment war chest". This strategy aligns with a broader consolidation trend within the packaging industry, where major players like Constantia, Essel Propack, Manjushree, and Huhtamaki seek acquisitions.
When WhatPackaging? reached out to Huhtamaki, the company issued an official holding statement: “We are aware of the article published by Mint that speculates on potential acquisitions by Huhtamaki in India. The report is based on unnamed sources and remains speculative in nature. We continually evaluate strategic opportunities that align with our growth ambitions. At present, however, there are no material developments to disclose. Any information requiring public disclosure will be shared in accordance with applicable listing regulations and through our official communication channels.”
Thane-based Huhtamaki India, established in 1935, is a listed subsidiary of the Finland-based global packaging major, Huhtamaki, specialising in flexible, labels, and speciality packaging.
