“Brands are choosing experience as a primary point and want the customers to feel and experience the products and package"

This year, according to R Chandrasekhar, president of IFCA, “The jury members found it extremely difficult to distinguish between all the entries and samples received.” In his opening remarks, he said that today, packaging has become more of a storyteller, incorporating sustainability.

Chandrasekhar’s main focus was innovation, which he said “is meaningful when it creates impact for industry transformation”. IFCA Star Awards commemorated the “doers, disruptors and dreamers”.

Top packaging firms saw a successful evening with UFlex bagging 16 awards home, ITC and Parksons Packaging with eight, and many more. The evening was followed by the chairman of IFCA, Suresh Gupta’s keynote address.

Along with the award celebration, the delegates saw insightful sessions and a panel discussion. Vijayant Rana from Brilliant Polymers spoke about the benefits of solvent-free laminating adhesives. He said, “Solvent-free adhesives save costs up to 50% and it complies with FDA and EU food regulations. They are now compatible with almost all inks.” He shared some of the innovations including high performance reverse catalysed solvent-free adhesives.

The final session in IFCA Star Awards was an interesting panel discussing points concerning customer centricity. R Madanraj from ITC said, “Customer centricity doesn't stop at pricing or delivering it on time. We need to understand your customer's promise to the consumer and play around that.”

Pradeep Wazir of Mahika Packaging added, “Organisations are evolving when it comes to customer centricity, understanding brands’ purposes and challenges.”
