Lakshay Singhal: Aluminium and advanced paper-based packaging will play a central role in packaging evolution

LSKB Aluminium Foils, a provider of kitchen and institutional packaging, deployed its presence at Aahar 2026 to position itself as a strategic solutions partner, citing the trade show’s evolution into a comprehensive food, service, and packaging ecosystem.

Lakshay Singhal, the director at LSKB Aluminium Foils, said the participation offered a direct line to hotel, restaurant, catering (HoReCa) decision-makers, quick service restaurant (QSR) brands, and distributors. The objective was to present both the B2B institutional supply arm, LSKB Aluminium Foils, and its consumer-facing brand, HomeFoil, not as commodity suppliers, but as partners invested in "hygiene, safety, and operational efficiency across modern kitchens".

Singhal noted that this audience is viewing packaging as a critical lever for "food quality and customer experience, not merely a commodity".

LSKB's stall attracted attention across categories, including distribution, HoReCa, and QSR segments, signaling a market that is "becoming more conscious and actively exploring suppliers through such platforms".

A launch that drew significant commercial interest was a new greaseproof paper. This multipurpose product is FDA certified and engineered to retain its oil resistance for up to 168 hours. The company’s established consumer staples, the Golden Foil and the 2-in-1 paper under the Homefoil brand, also continued to attract attention. The exhibition further highlighted a preference for comprehensive kitchen packaging, with the tissue paper segment seeing encouraging traction. Internationally and domestically, the semi-rigid aluminium containers, suitable for both consumer and HoReCa use, generated meaningful business conversations, confirming a consistent trend of wider audience reach for LSKB’s combined aluminium and paper portfolio.

Mr. Singhal emphasized that LSKB’s strategic focus is on the manufacturing rigour behind its products, which are backed by Italian technology and subjected to "stringent quality tests".3

In line with sustainability mandates, the company’s aluminium portfolio, including containers, foil rolls, and speciality variants, is made from high-grade, recyclable material. Mr. Singhal stressed that the material’s performance—specifically the "strength and formability" of the aluminium range—is a critical differentiator that impacts how the product performs in transit and at the point of consumption. This reliability, he noted, sets the company apart in a market where quality can vary significantly.Outlook: A Shift to Quality-First Mindset3

In evaluating the business outcomes of Aahar 2026, Mr. Singhal described the participation as "highly productive," with engagements marked by a shift toward informed decision-making focused on "performance, specifications, and reliability," rather than being purely "price-driven". He expressed "strong confidence in conversion potential," particularly for long-term B2B partnerships.3

Looking to the future, Mr. Singhal predicted that India's food packaging industry will experience a clear growth trajectory over the next two to three years, moving "away from a price-first mindset towards a quality-first one". This change is fueled by the expansion of cloud kitchens, organised retail, and food delivery services, which have elevated packaging into a core element of the overall product experience.3

The market is displaying a "growing intolerance for packaging failure" such as leakage or poor presentation. Singhal asserted that this elevated expectation is driving buyers towards standardised and performance-driven solutions.

He concluded that both aluminium and advanced paper-based packaging will play a central role in this evolution due to their combination of "hygiene, reliability, and sustainability credentials".
