Digital control systems, robotics, and integrated packaging technologies change the organisation of modern food production lines. At Interpack 2026, Multivac presents networked concepts for food processing and packaging that shift the perspective of packaging from simple product protection to an active component of the entire value chain. This evolution includes packaging design, material usage, and sustainable materials, supported by digital applications such as the digital product passport.
Smart production and stability
The focus at the Multivac stand remains on smart production and integrated line solutions. By combining packaging technologies with robotics and digital control systems, the company aims to make food production processes more stable and operate equipment with higher efficiency. Digital applications support the analysis of production data, facilitating quality documentation and predictive maintenance.
Centralised monitoring and coordination of complex food packaging lines is enabled through Multivac Line Control (MLC). This system allows for the analysis of production data to optimise processes and increase equipment availability. These digital tools play a significant role in meeting regulatory requirements, such as the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), which impacts the food sector through mandates on material reduction and recyclability.
Precision in thermoforming
In addition to digital networking, new technologies for thermoforming food packaging are being utilised to reduce material consumption. The pixelheat matrix heating system enables precise temperature control during the package-forming process. This allows for the production of high-quality thermoformed packs with up to 50% less material, while retaining the mechanical rigidity and shelf life required for sensitive food products.
Complementing this, the digitally controllable pixelseal contour sealing system ensures uniform heat distribution during the sealing phase. This technology ensures hermetic seals even for ultra-thin films and sustainable mono-materials, which are often difficult to process. Multivac showcases these solutions across Hall 5, Stand A23 and Hall 16, Stand A38, highlighting the RX Ultimate thermoforming machine in live operation throughout the fair.
