The Plastics Export Promotion Council (Plexconcil) is set to host a high-profile Buyer-Seller Meet (BSM) between Indian manufacturers and key Central and South American markets at K 2025 in Düsseldorf, Germany. The event, scheduled for 10 October, aims to capitalise on the growing demand for Indian plastics in regions such as Guatemala, Costa Rica, Mexico, Brazil, and Colombia.

With India targeting a doubling of plastic exports — from USD 12-billion to USD 25-billion by 2027 — the BSM presents a strategic opportunity to strengthen trade ties with Central and South America, where plastic consumption is on the rise.

According to the press release, Latin American nations are increasingly diversifying supply chains, reducing reliance on China and turning to India for cost-competitive, high-quality plastics. Recent Plexconcil-led trade missions in Costa Rica, El Salvador, and Guatemala have already demonstrated strong buyer interest.

India’s plastic exports surged by 12.7% year-on-year in December 2023, reaching USD 1.1-billion, with further growth in January 2024. South America, with its vast population and expanding GDP, complements India’s strengths in engineering goods, pharmaceuticals, and textiles. Preferential trade agreements and government-backed initiatives are further accelerating bilateral trade.

Why at K Fair?
As the world’s premier plastics and rubber trade fair, K 2025 attracts global industry leaders, making it an ideal platform for Indian exporters. The 2025 edition is expected to set new benchmarks in networking and trade opportunities. Many Central and South American buyers, who may not travel to India, regularly attend the Düsseldorf event. “Hosting the BSM here (K 2025) ensures maximum participation from key buyers,” said Sribash Dasmahopatra, executive director, Plexconcil.
