The Plastics Export Promotion Council (PLEXCONCIL) will host the India-Global Buyer-Seller Meet (BSM) on 10 October 2025, during K Fair 2025 in Dusseldorf, Germany. The BSM will take place in Hall 1 – Room 15, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. This event aims to connect Indian exporters with global buyers, foster new trade opportunities, and enhance India’s footprint in the international plastics market.
India’s plastic export sector holds immense potential, with significant growth opportunities in emerging markets such as Guatemala, Costa Rica, Mexico, and several African countries. The nation has set a target of increasing plastic exports from the current USD 12 billion to USD 25 billion by 2027.
Countries across Central and South America are experiencing a rising demand for plastics, particularly in sectors such as packaging, consumer goods, and construction. Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, and Colombia are key markets that maintain robust trade relations with India. Additionally, many Latin American countries are actively seeking to diversify their sourcing and reduce dependency on China, positioning India as a reliable and competitive alternative.
The BSM format will include fixed official meetings on 10 October 2025, allowing Indian companies enough time to discuss requirements. Each Indian company will be provided a common table space to display its products, and only two people from each company will be allowed. Each member will be able to meet buyers one-on-one as per scheduled time slots.
A statement from Plexconcil said, "K Fair 2025 will witness the plastics industry across the globe expected to visit this fair, as it is a crucial event for their inventory, learning, contacts, and global networking. Buyers from Central, South American, African, and European regions will be visiting, as the fair is closer to them than visiting India. Hosting the Indian Plastic Industry BSM during K Fair provides an opportunity for buyers to meet Indian companies while they are already in Dusseldorf."
This BSM will serve as a key platform for Indian exporters to showcase their capabilities, build networks, and explore partnerships to tap into these growing markets. The potential for Indian plastic exports is substantial, driven by growing demand, strategic initiatives, and the ability of Indian manufacturers to compete globally. Addressing logistical and competitive challenges will be key to realising the potential of this market, requiring a proactive approach from both the Indian government and exporters.
