Discussions around the future direction of packaging were at the center of W&H’s booth

Windmöller & Hölscher (W&H) and its subsidiary Garant Maschinenhandel concluded their participation at the interpack trade fair, which took place in Düsseldorf from 7 to 13 May 2026. The event served as a platform for international exchange, drawing high visitor attendance and facilitating discussions with global customers and partners.

Nicolai Bisgaard, sales director Asia Pacific at Windmöller & Hölscher, said that the exhibition was primarily a venue for personal encounters. Bisgaard added that the discussions highlighted the importance of close partnerships in addressing current industry challenges. The proximity of the trade fair to the W&H and Garant headquarters in Lengerich allowed international visitor groups to visit the production sites directly.

Sustainability emerged as a primary focus during the event, with customers seeking options for sustainable packaging production. Discussions centered on production efficiency, design for recycling through mono-material applications, and the integration of recycled materials to align with evolving European and global legislation. W&H demonstrated these capabilities through a dedicated display showcasing international MDO-PE packaging solutions produced by its customers. The display included sample packaging for diverse applications, featuring paper-based and mono-material solutions with and without functional barriers, as well as packaging utilizing post-consumer recycled (PCR) material.

Garant experienced strong interest in its paper-based packaging machinery, particularly for e-commerce applications such as padded paper shipping and return mailers. Alongside the main exhibition, Garant hosted an open house event at its Lengerich facility to demonstrate its integrated automation processes. The demonstrations covered the entire production chain from bag making to end-of-line automation and palletizing.
