USA-headquartered Ball Corporation, a sustainable aluminium packaging specialist, announced new investments to expand its production capacity in India, reinforcing its long-term commitment to one of Asia’s fastest-growing consumer markets. Following a USD 55-million investment in its Taloja can manufacturing facility near Mumbai in 2024, the company is now investing an additional USD 60-million in its Sri City plant in Andhra Pradesh, near Chennai.

“India is key to our global strategy, and this investment reflects our focused approach to scaling operations in high-growth markets and securing long-term competitive advantage,” said Mandy Glew, president, Ball Beverage Packaging EMEA and Asia. “Following our expansions in Taloja and Sri City, we are exploring further investments to support the continued growth of the Indian market as more brands and consumers are choosing aluminium packaging.”

Ball’s expansion supports the growing demand in India’s beverage can market, which is expected to grow more than 10% annually over the next five years. Consumer preference is shifting toward sustainable and convenient packaging, with aluminium increasingly being adopted across new product categories, particularly in the dairy segment. Ready-to-drink beverages and milk-based drinks are turning to aluminium for modern, sustainable packaging solutions.

Using its proprietary retort technology, Ball enables dairy and RTD products to achieve longer shelf life while maintaining taste and nutritional integrity. This technological capability strengthens the company’s role as a key enabler of packaging transformation in India’s fast-evolving beverage landscape.

“This is a pivotal moment for our India team,” said Manish Joshi, regional commercial director – Asia, Ball Beverage Packaging India. “It reinforces our commitment to serving customers in this fast-growing market with greater speed, flexibility, and reliability. We are proud to contribute to local skill development and strengthen partnerships with local suppliers and customers to drive growth, sustainability, and innovation.”

Since entering the Indian market in 2016, Ball has expanded steadily through its facilities in Taloja and Sri City, producing a wide range of beverage can formats – 185-ml, 250-ml, 300-ml, 330-ml, and 500-ml – for both global and domestic brands.
