On 5 January, a fire erupted within the Dabhel Industrial Area, resulting in heavy losses for two packaging firms.
The fire originated at the Total Packaging unit before moving into the neighbouring Ace Packaging facility. According to various news reports, the presence of plastic household goods at both sites caused the flames to advance quickly, leading to secondary damage at a third nearby plant.

Emergency services initially sent seven engines to the location. However, as the situation worsened, a total of 18 tankers and fire tenders were utilised to combat the inferno.
According to reports, the two packaging units were already consumed by flames before the arrival of the fire department. The fire department officials managed to stop the spread of the fire to other industrial units in the crowded district.

No injuries or deaths were reported following a successful evacuation of the workforce. To ensure public safety, the area has been sealed off, and electricity has been disconnected while cooling efforts proceed.
An official inquiry involving the police and fire department is now underway to determine the formal cause and the total value of the destroyed property.
