The Food Safety Connect mobile app is available for download on both the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has introduced a new digital tool that allows consumers to report misleading or false claims made on packaged food products.

The tool allows users to submit essential information such as images of the misleading claim, the FSSAI license or registration number of the manufacturer, and the e-commerce URL if the product is being sold online. These details will help authorities take prompt and evidence-based action against non-compliant food business operators.

Consumers can now lodge complaints using either the Food Safety Connect mobile application or the Food Safety Compliance System (FoSCoS) website (https://foscos.fssai.gov.in). The initiative is part of FSSAI’s broader effort to increase transparency, strengthen food safety regulations, and protect consumer rights across the country.

This initiative builds on FSSAI’s regulatory framework established under the Food Safety and Standards (Advertising and Claims) Regulations, 2018, and the Labelling and Display Regulations, 2020. These regulations require all claims on food labels to be clear, scientifically valid, and not misleading. Claims related to nutritional or health benefits must be backed by scientific evidence.

The initiative also works in tandem with the operations of FSSAI’s Advertisement and Claims Monitoring Committee (AMC), which oversees food label claims and advertising content for regulatory compliance. FSSAI has urged all citizens to participate actively in this initiative to promote.
