The company’s showcase will centre on integrated solutions across folding cartons, labels and flexible packaging

Heidelberg will use Interpack 2026 to position itself as a system integrator, focusing on connected, automated production environments that extend beyond printing.

The company’s showcase will centre on integrated solutions across folding cartons, labels and flexible packaging, with applications aimed at sectors including pharmaceuticals, food, beverages and cosmetics. These segments are driving demand for higher efficiency, consistency and compliance, alongside increasing sustainability requirements.

Heidelberg’s portfolio includes Speedmaster presses for carton and label production, the Boardmaster web flexo system for high-volume packaging, and Gallus hybrid inkjet platforms. These are supported by finishing, robotics and intralogistics systems, as well as the Prinect workflow software, which links processes across production stages.

Dr David Schmedding, chief technology and sales officer at Heidelberg, said, “Because Heidelberg possesses comprehensive application expertise and knowledge in the digitalisation of processes, we are able to approach the entire packaging manufacturing process from the perspective of the end product.”

The company is extending its model by integrating partner technologies beyond printing, aiming to deliver turnkey solutions across the packaging value chain.

Schmedding explained that the Interpack presentation is designed to demonstrate the benefits of integration for brand owners and converters. He said, “Our exhibition presentation at Interpack 2026, together with partners from the packaging industry, demonstrates the potential for greater automation, efficiency and transparency in an integrated manufacturing process.”

He added that Heidelberg’s longer-term strategy is built around end-to-end production environments. Schmedding said, “At Heidelberg, we have a vision of turnkey end-to-end packaging production that goes beyond printing.”

The company’s focus reflects broader industry developments, including rising demand in emerging markets, tighter regulatory frameworks and a shift towards sustainable materials. These factors are increasing the need for integrated production systems that can manage complexity while maintaining productivity.

Heidelberg said it expects Interpack to provide a platform for engaging with converters and brand owners seeking to invest in connected manufacturing environments, as the industry moves towards more automated and data-driven production models.
