The fourth edition of Envision 2025, organised by the Institute of Packaging Machinery Manufacturers of India (IPMMI), opened with a strong emphasis on collaboration and innovation as industry leaders convened in Goa.
"When we first planned this event, we deliberately capped attendance at 100 because managing larger groups becomes challenging," Iyer remarked. "Yet today, we have 146 passionate professionals here—proof of our industry's growing momentum."
Iyer spotlighted IPMMI's commitment to education, detailing a new technician training programme with Somaya Institute. "There's a huge skills gap in operating packaging machinery," he said. "Through this six-month course, combining classroom learning and hands-on factory training, we aim to certify 250–300 job-ready technicians annually." With IPMMI's membership now exceeding 300, Iyer stressed the need for stronger representation: "Until we cross 500 members, the government won’t take us as seriously as we deserve. But we’re on track—our collective voice is growing louder."
On exports, Iyer noted the industry's challenges and opportunities. “International customers are ruthless about quality. But that’s where we must compete – higher margins, higher stakes." The launch of the Ashoka Project, a reforestation initiative planting 33,000 trees, drew applause from attendees. "This is our legacy; giving back to nature while building the future," Iyer said, encouraging participants to scan QR codes to contribute to the sustainability effort.
Iyer closed by thanking sponsors and highlighting the event's packed agenda: "The next two days will unpack robotics, AI, and how small manufacturers can scale. But the real magic happens in networking; meet someone here who changes your trajectory."
With a vision to train 250–300 technicians annually and scale exhibitions like PackMach, Iyer said, “IPMMI is poised to elevate India’s packaging industry on the world stage.”
