Barcelona-based Lecta, leading manufacturer and distributor in Europe, has introduced Metalvac Seal Oxygen Barrier, a new addition to its Metalvac range of metallised barrier papers for flexible packaging.

The paper is available in 83 and 93-gsm grades. It includes heat-sealability, oxygen, aroma, mineral oil, and grease barriers (PFAS-free), and is suitable for food packaging such as snacks, confectionery, coffee, tea, spices, and pet food.

Metalvac Seal Oxygen Barrier uses 0.08-gsm aluminium, balancing barrier performance with recyclability in the standard paper stream. It is compatible with offset, flexo, and rotogravure printing on one side and heat-sealable on the other. It offers barrier properties (both flat and folded) against water vapor (WVTR), oxygen (OTR), aroma, mineral oils (MOSH/MOAH), and grease (PFAS-free), while also ensuring very good performance on horizontal and vertical form-fill-seal machines (HFFS/VFFS), as well as optimal conversion into common flexible packaging formats such as sachets, flowpacks, doypacks, and more.

Metalvac Seal Oxygen Barrier is recyclable within the standard paper and cardboard recycling stream, in accordance with CEPI V2 recyclability standards. The paper runs on horizontal and vertical form-fill-seal machines and can be converted into sachets, flowpacks, doypacks, and similar formats. It meets CEPI recyclability standards and aligns with circular economy goals.

Production adheres to GMP and FSSC 22000 food safety standards and is certified under ISO 14001, 9001, 45001, 50001, and EMAS. FSC and PEFC certification is available on request.
