The Plastics Export Promotion Council (Plexconcil) will organise an India Pavilion at Interplas 2026. The UK's largest plastics exhibition takes place from 2nd to 4th June 2026 at the National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham. This initiative aims to increase India's presence in the UK plastics market, fostering bilateral trade.
In 2024-25, plastics trade between India and the United Kingdom reached USD 668-million. India's exports to the UK totalled USD 509-million, while UK exports to India were USD 159-million. India's plastics exports to the UK primarily include plastic films, sheets, and packaging items. The UK's annual plastics imports are approximately USD 33-billion, with India's current share at 1.9%. Plexconcil states this "indicates a significant untapped potential — India’s plastics exports to the UK can grow by up to USD 9.9-billion."
The India-UK ECTA, signed on 24th July 2025, is expected to support this growth. The agreement "reduces duties of up to 6% on all plastic products to zero," providing Indian exporters a "level playing field and enhanced competitiveness." Product categories with export potential include plastic films, sheets, FIBCs, woven sacks, tarpaulins, and consumer houseware. Plexconcil "strongly encourages" exporters to participate in UK exhibitions to explore market potential.
Interplas UK 2026 will feature over 600 exhibitors. The event includes the Interplas Insights Conference, which will cover topics such as sustainability and regulatory updates. Dedicated zones for recycling, contract manufacturing, and networking spaces will also be present.
