Tetra Pak, a leading food processing and packaging solutions company, is pleased to announce the appointment of Cassio Simões as the managing director of its south asia markets. Simões will be taking over the role effective from 1 June, 2023.
He succeeds Ashutosh Manohar, who will retire, following an illustrious corporate career of over four decades, including a 20-year stint at Tetra Pak. Manohar, bagged the fifth place in PrintWeek's Power 100 this year.
Cassio Simoes helmed important portfolios across different businesses at Tetra Pak over the past 20 years. Most recently, he was managing director of Tetra Pak Andina. With a strong track record of helping customers innovate for growth, his expertise will be instrumental in driving the company's growth and expansion in the South Asia region, which includes India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, and Bhutan.
Ashutosh Manohar welcomed Cassio to lead Tetra Pak South Asia in this next phase of growth. Manohar said, "His extensive experience and leadership skills will be invaluable as we continue to strengthen our position as a leading provider of food processing and packaging solutions in South Asia. I’m confident that under his leadership, we will deliver great value to our customers, deliver food safely to consumers all over the region, and do this in a way that we do right by the planet.
During Ashutosh Manohar's tenure Tetra Pak had showcased a fibre-based barrier to replace the aluminium layer in the standard Tetra Pak carton. Also, he was at the forefront in urging consumers to segregate their Tetra Pak cartons. Speaking to WhatPackaging? magazine he had said, "The Tetra Pak cartons are already recyclable. So, please help us in our recycling activities by the simple task of segregating the cartons.”
Ashutosh Manohar spearheaded the Tetra Pak's production, through decrease in the energy consumption plus boosting the product viability by using smart machines in manufacturing. He had shared with WhatPackaging? that "When you collect data in real time and utilise that, you'll be able to drive the utilisation of the plant from 60%-70% to 90% without using a new machine,"
Meanwhile, commenting on his appointment, Cassio said that he is honoured to have the opportunity to build on the great foundation set up by his predecessor Ashutosh Manohar and deliver value for the food & beverage customers in South Asia.
