Bobst to display its Expert K5 metalliser at Plastindia

Bobst aims to demonstrate the next generation of flexible packaging at Plastindia through its real proof points and use cases. The company will offer its end-to-end solutions at the show.

The key highlights include: Expert VIP sessions about “transforming metallising for a new era- dedicated sessions on new Expert K5, the first metalliser with autonomous drive.” The visitors will also get a hands-on look at the latest technologies and see how connectivity and digitalisation can boost operations in terms of productivity, ease of use and sustainability.

The next generation of the Bobst Expert K5 Metallizer is the first automated metalliser in the flexible packaging industry. It is optimised to handle sustainable substrates including BOPE, MDO PE, CPP and paper) and low temperature heat-sealable BOPP films.

The metalliser comes with an in-built operator support and Bobst’s IMA software powered by AI which automates and controls the deposition process. The machine comes with a new operator console with controls all in one place, and automatically selects optimised settings for different processes.

Bobst IMA in conjunction with Bobst Connect makes remote support possible for the metalliser. The machine comes with an increased output of up to 100 tonnes per annum, along with the ability to house increased roll diameters up to 1,270-mm. Bobst claims that Expert K5 Metallizer has the largest coating window in the industry with improved collection efficiency of 16%.

Some of the benefits of the machine, which will also be demonstrated at Bobst’s stall during the show, include; 20% savings in production costs, and 10-15% reduction in total cost of ownership.
