ATS is to track the quantity of adhesive dispensing and can be used in a variety of applications

WhatPackaging?(WP): What does the product do?
Nordson India (NI):
The Adhesive Tracking System (ATS) is a flow measuring device that comes integrated with Nordson’s ProBlue Flex melter but can also be retrofitted on any of Nordson’s older Melter models. The ATS uses a flow-meter to directly measure adhesive output and alerts the system when the amount of dispensed adhesive is out of a predetermined band.

WP: Explain what it's suitable for?
NI:
ATS is to track the quantity of adhesive dispensing and can be used in a variety of applications. In packaging, it is used to ensure that adhesive is equally dispensed to produce a strong bond between surfaces; prevent over-dispensing as well as under-dispensing of adhesive, and eliminate material wastage; aid adhesive savings per product, and generate long term savings on the production process.

WP: What market is it aimed at?
NI:
All packaging applications where glue consumption and production quality is of importance to the manufacturer.

WP: In what way is the product relevant for the Indian packaging in the SME sector?
NI:
The ATS monitors and controls production process once you input the primary data and ensures repeatable precise dispensing of the hot-melt adhesive. This frees up the need for labour and takes away the variation in material dispensing. This ensures that neither too much nor too little adhesive is dispensed on your package. When the amount of adhesive dispensed exceeds what is needed, it wastes money by increasing the cost of manufacturing each product.

WP: What is unique about this product?
NI:
The ATS possesses distinct characteristics to enable measurement of dispensed quantity per product leading to control within specified range; maintain a history of production adhesive volumes and out-of-tolerance products to help you track as well as regulate future batches of products; to enable the download of historical data via a USB port to analyse and improve your process.

WP: How easy is it to use?
NI:
It is user friendly, easy to install and retrieves data.

WP: How does it score on the merits like being trouble-free?
NI:
We would rate it 10 out of 10. We have never had a dissatisfied customer or reports of the system failing or underperforming post installation.

WP: Any feedback from your customers?
NI:
We have sold multiple systems and successfully installed them across various production lines. Leading players in the FMCG and pharma industry are already adopting the solution on their new and existing lines. They have been able to control and forecast their inventory of adhesive by using ATS.

WP: Key customers?
NI:
Our customers majorly include key players in the FMCG and pharmaceutical industries.
