Flexitest marches on the Indian packaging wave at Cosmoprof

In an exclusive interview with WhatPackaging? during the Cosmoprof show in Mumbai, Ravi Fotedar of Flexitest Printing Solutions highlighted the company’s role in elevating decoration in primary packaging innovation, which he notes has historically been slow to evolve  in the Indian market.

Ravi Fotedar: The Isimat Hybrid Technology features advance screen printing, flexo printing, digital decoration, and inline cold foiling, all hybrid processes in a single efficient pass

Flexitest Printing Solutions is expanding its footprint in the Indian packaging industry, driven by its cutting-edge technology and a commitment to collaborative, sustainable solutions.

Its award-winning technology, which combines digital printing, in-line cold foiling, flexo and screen printing on a single machine, is designed to simplify processes and automate systems for converters. "What this technology does for the converter is that it simplifies the process. It automates the systems and is able to give a wide and divergent offering to the brand," Fotedar explained. For brands, this translates to high-level embellishment and visibility, while converters gain ease of operation and a strong competitive edge.

Fotedar emphasised that Flexitest operates as a partner, not merely a transactional machine seller. The company works closely with Indian converters, listening to their challenges to develop customised solutions. He said, "We have a strong R&D base and we work very closely with the brands and with the converters". He added, "Our job is to listen to the converters who have a very high degree of understanding of the processes."

Isimat, whose parent organisation is a daughter company of Germany’s Kurtz group, is experiencing significant growth in India. Flexitest has already secured between even installations, with a few more slated for commissioning in 2026.

Despite global supply chain issues and other macroeconomic challenges, Fotedar is highly optimistic about the future, especially given the continuous demand for packaged consumer products.

Fotedar said, "If there is a beauty and cosmetic product it has to be packaged and if the new trend for packaging is embellishment then we are the leaders in the industry. I don't see us slowing down for the next decade." He added that the company is "galloping on." In line with this growth, the company is undertaking in-house development projects to improve its printing capability and plans to file two more patents, adding to the three already held by the parent company Isimat

Flexitest showed off a premium-decorated bottle at its stall at Cosmoprof, which was designed to showcase the full potential of Isimat's advanced decoration technologies. Fotedar says, "From precise screen printing to inline foiling and protective varnishing, every step adds depth, brilliance, and tactile appeal." As a result, the bottle has a fusion of shiny foil accents and vibrant colours that turn a simple bottle into a true statement.
