Himalaya BabyCare has redesigned packaging across its Gentle Baby Care range, aiming to cut 500-tonnes of plastic over five years as part of its sustainability roadmap

Himalaya BabyCare has introduced refreshed packaging across its Gentle Baby Care range, aligning usability upgrades with a commitment to reduce plastic consumption. According to the company, the redesigned packs are projected to eliminate approximately 500-tonnes of plastic over the next five years, equivalent to around 100-tonnes annually.

The move reflects a broader shift in FMCG packaging towards material optimisation and sustainability, particularly in baby care, where brand trust and environmental responsibility increasingly intersect.

The updated packaging features a cleaner visual design, improved label readability and enhanced ergonomics, including better grip and stability for daily use. The company said the redesign balances functionality with material reduction without compromising safety standards.

NV Chakravarthi, director – BabyCare at Himalaya Wellness Company, said the initiative reflects a long-term commitment to reducing plastic waste while maintaining product quality. He added that the company views environmental responsibility as integral to safeguarding future generations.

The launch is supported by a digital campaign highlighting parental concerns about plastic waste and environmental impact. The film has been released in Hindi, with adaptations in ten regional languages, including Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Bengali and Marathi.

The packaging refresh forms part of Himalaya BabyCare’s wider sustainability roadmap, as brands across the FMCG sector accelerate material efficiency and responsible packaging design in response to consumer expectations and regulatory scrutiny.
