Britannia’s objective for partnering with Sidel was to deliver a complete aseptic PET packaging solution at Britannia’s greenfield dairy factory in Ranjangaon in Maharashtra. Sidel served as the end-to-end solutions partner for Britannia, managing the technical planning, installation, and commissioning of a high-speed aseptic production line.

The facility utilises Sidel’s Aseptic Combi Predis technology, which operates at 24,000-bph by integrating dry preform sterilisation, blow moulding, filling, and capping into a single block. This system employs Hydrogen peroxide injection during the preform heating stage, utilising thermal activation to ensure high-level decontamination while minimising the sterile zone.

This dry process eliminates water consumption and reduces chemical usage, facilitating high-efficiency format changes — ranging from 180-ml to 1-litre dairy containers — without compromising product integrity or environmental sustainability.

Harbinder Kathuria, vice president - sales, South Asia, Sidel, commented, “Sidel offered Britannia end-to-end support, enabling them to unlock the full potential of their dairy beverage.”

He added, “From bottle and label design to product-packaging validation, the line has empowered Britannia to expand its dairy beverage portfolio and offer safe, high-quality products with enhanced packaging flexibility to Indian consumers since 2023.”

Abhishek Sinha, chief sales transformation officer, Britannia, explained, “The support from Sidel wasn’t limited to the line equipment; it went much further.” He continued, “Sidel offered a comprehensive range of services, including new packaging concept design, packaging validation, label recommendations, custom filling tests and shelf-life studies. They provided everything we needed to enter the aseptic PET segment and bring our new product to market with maximum confidence.”
